The late Cambrian to Middle Ordovician was a time of frequent carbon cycle perturbations, which can be seen in the carbon isotope record of this time. Since 2020, we have been logging, sampling, and measuring d13C from a remarkable Cambrian to Ordovician section along the C and O Canal in western Maryland. 

We have made over 1100 d13C measurements over roughly 2000 meters of section. Our record contains the globally recorded SPICE, TSICE, and MDICE excursions, and is one of the longest, most high-resolution sections from this time period.
